Birmingham-based contemporary folk duo “Filkin’s Drift” deftly combines original tunes and traditional songs. Across the EP, the pair draw influence from the Afro-Cuban bembé (Arr!), EDM (On the Shoulders of Giants), and their native folk traditions of Wales and England (Alaw/Arthur McBride).

About Us

The music of Filkin’s Drift takes inspiration from medieval monks, Africa, Cuba and their native folk traditions of Wales and Gloucestershire.

Seth Bye (fiddle) and Chris Roberts (guitar) began working together in 2018 and were quickly accepted onto the esteemed Live Music Now and Music in Hospitals and Care programs. Their unique writing style has rapidly seen them becoming one of the most sought after duos in the West Midlands.

The duo are currently recording an EP of self-penned tunes to be released in 2020.

They have been fortunate in receiving mentoring from folk greats including Joe Broughton (Urban Folk Quartet, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) and Dylan Fowler (Alaw, Celtic Guitar Journeys, Taith).

With venues beginning to reopen after lockdown, we’re thrilled to have a few public gigs coming up! Watch this space for more announcements…
